My boyfriend thinks i'm gay because i accidentally got my nails polished

I was putting a protective coat on my hardwood floors and realized afterward that it had also coated my nails, making them looking shiny and glossy as if I went to a manicurist to have them done. Looks very feminine and strange on my large calloused hands. Tried using sand paper but I only had the fine grain type and it didn't help much.
