I would agree with these other two, here is my take on it.
If you have tried it and don't like it there are four feasible options for your future and when you talk with him you'll discuss which is the most likely.
1. You continue to try and do what he wants even though you don't like it.
2. He gives them up and you continue together without doing those things or maybe only doing them once a year like on his birthday.
3. You break up and go your separate ways.
4. You stay together you do nothing but allow him permission to be dominated by another party.
So many people jump to the conclusion of breaking up but in reality everything in a relationship is compromise. You have to talk to each other to find that compromise. You should never be FORCED to do anything you don't want to, but ultimately even if you don't like to do them then it's up to you to say that and determine if you're willing to do them as part of a compromise.
