Yes he is freakin scared to be a father and is not at all ready! Or at least that is what he thinks... You need to talk to him and decide as a family what to do. He needs to get it off his chest or he will fall deeply into depression. He may not want to, but try to find out what is wrong and help him cope...

Honestly, he doesn't sound ready to be a parent, doesn't even sound like he is dealing all that well with just himself.
