I had no idea this was even possible. What exactly is it inside of the vagina that "grips" onto the penis?

I learned about it my first time in college in my human sexuality class.
IIRC scientists hired prostitutes to study the human body during stages of arousal. What they found was the the vagina actually lengthens and balloons out a little when the woman is aroused. This of course helps her accommodate penetration.
Now that is a strange way to go about studying the body, although it makes sense!
I estimate the studies were first done at least 20-30 years ago. I first learned about it in 93 or 94.
But the information is easily accessible online. Just look up "Stages of arousal in women" and you'll find articles that detail everything that goes on inside the woman's body.
If anything more women should be familiar with this. I mean why not know what your body is doing on the inside, right?
