My boss fired me for empathizing with him

I told him I don’t feel disrespectful of him when I come in late, and that it’s a personal problem with punctuality, but I can see how he might feel I am disrespecting him. He told me he didn’t know I was coming in late and fired me.

    Actually you got fired for being late. You were not fired for emphasizing with him. You're making excuses for yourself subconsciously. That mindset is cancer. You fucked up and got fired. Its ok just move on and learn from it. But don't tell yourself a lie.

      Yea pretty much. Besides it's really easy to not get fired. I once called in cause I was stuck on the toilet. Told him as much and he told me to take my time. Showed up a half hour late but since he knew about it it wasnt a problem

    It's normal to make excuses for your own faults but people need to learn to turn that into self-improvement. Telling him "Oh I didn't know it was disrespectful" was a nail in the coffin because you're expected to arrive on time or even better a little early
