My body grabs all my stress and has enhanced my anxiety. is this normal?

I have been struggling with extreme anxiety for a long time and although I have coping methods that work... it is really challenging with my new injury. I have a narrow disc in my neck. So any intense emotion clenches my body like no ones business. Drove me crazy but I am working on it. I panick more about the anticipation of something because I want to prevent as much pain as possible now. Just curious if this common.
