My adult son asked to be breastfed?

Some years ago my 19 year old son asked if I would breastfeed him, this was about 7 years ago. I thought he was joking at first. I was never there when he was growing up as a child and I think it badly affected him. I don't think he was truly serious but he is embarrassed about it and is ashamed of himself for saying it. He expresses much shame over it and has said to me that he often wonders what his girlfriend or friends would think of him if they knew about it. He feels such guilt over it that it is ruining his life and he constantly ruminates on the subject. How can I help him move on? this is genuinely not trolling or reaction-seeking.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Do you mean he's 19 now or was 19 then or 12 then? If he was 12 back then, you need to keep reassuring him that you'll never tell anyone and it's nothing to be embarrassed or ashamed about.

He does sound somewhat obsessed: maybe therapy would help?

Breastfeed him. Because why not. It's good for you both :)

I'm 26, and my mom still breastfeeds me sometimes.

whether he was 12or 19 when this happened, tell him that it was funny and odd, but it was a long time ago. Stop talking about it.

  • I would tell him to forget about it since it was so long ago.
