Alot of students, sometime in their life, will probably find at least one teacher attractive, fun to talk to/look at, or want to be in a relationship with. I would say 95% of those feelings/akward relationships do not work out.
Probably for one because he/she is a teacher, the teacher does not like the student back, or because the teacher is already married with kids or just married and already happy. And see you dont really have any of those problems, you are 18 so it's legal. He has flirted with you so ovbiously he is at least a little bit interested, and he is not your teacher anymore so it doesnt matter. IN THIS CASE, go for it. What do you have to loose? It is just like any other guy so the worst that can happen is rejection.
