Long distance relationships are incredibly amazing, powerful, intense and much more passionate, in my opinion of course. Being that I've had three, inception online:
The "big one" lasted 8 years. The second about 2 years, on and off and the third (I didn't feel the same after meeting) But they were the best relationships of my life, thus far.
The "big one", 8 years, we were separated by 3,500 miles. Literally across the country from each other. We managed so well and that person still remains my first and only person I've fallen in love with. I have never been that close and utterly enamored with someone. To this day, that person is my best friend (still in love with each other) and this person knows me better than I know myself. Neither of us were "looking" at that time, way back in the beginning of the social networking "boom" era. It just happened and was the best thing to ever happen to me. Talking on the phone, texting and IMing from the minute we woke up, until the other went to bed. 3 hour time difference and we began to think only in each other's time-zone. At that time, webcams were not the norm/installed in nearly every computer/ease of Facetime etc were not around yet; in that absence.. We sent personalized pictures a lot (and little video clips saying things and showing each other our town/house and even family members) to share everything we could each other. Smitten was an understatement.
I can say, it's amazing and worth the effort to meet, if you two plan on it. We were just teenagers, no jobs and still living with our parents -- and made it happen. We worked hard to make every flight happen. Worth it and changed our lives.
Mutual crush on IIN user. COMPLICATED! Opinions?
