  • I HATE hurting or being physically miserable for no good reason. Gimme any damn drug that helps, BUT I'll research it in depth, before I take it.
I will not go to a doctor unless it is absolutely necessary, BUT I have a very strong constitution and rarely get sick, infections or fear catastrophic illness (if you always worry about illnesses you could very well cause these illnesses).
Half a dozen times I've been cut to the bone, closed it w/ a couple of butterfly bandages and 3 weeks later there was barely a scar.

So true. I have also felt it is possible to ward off the onset of a sickness by thinking alone.

        • You HAVE to be being ironic! Path to enlightenment? More like path to self-delusion and wishful thinking

          • Nope. I've had some personal experience with mind over the physical and it can work.

            • I'm not suggesting mental attitude can't effect our physical bodies because that's obvious, and not dealing with stress is also bad for our physical health, what I'm doubting is that thinking negatively or positively about an illness can cause or cure it.

Remember when Louise L Hay was so trendy? Many people who adopted her philosophies to "cure" cancer or AIDS and weren't successful believed it was their fault for not trying hard enough, rather than holding her crazy newage theories responsible.

Just trying to get a bit of balance here before the debate tips over into crystals and chanting and The Secret

              • I find that mind of matter is a very real concept. Pain is simply a perception. By losing that perception through meditation and concentration you can push the human body much further than you think it will go.

Also in psychology there is a phenomenon where people who read symptoms of an illness can trick themselves into thinking they have that illness and create actual measurable symptoms that they never actually had. fascinating stuff

I once cut my thumb to the bone... cleaned it in a dirty puddle and put a bandage on it. I cringe thinking about that now...but I did that when I was like 9. And gave no fucks at that age lol.
