The way I see it, farm animals are there to be eaten. They are specifically bred to provide us with food, and I don't see anything wrong with me eating meat. Yes, its unfortunate how horribly some of them are treated. Does it mean me and a few other self righteous yuppies not eating meat is going to stop the cruelty cycle forever? Ofcourse not. I would love it if all farm animals were treated really well before being slaughtered but the truth is, its just too much time and money and it will never happen. I try my best to eat freerange chickens and eggs when I can, but its not as easy or affordable as everyone thinks.
Ofcourse its not their ONLY purpose, but its probably their most important one. Plants provide oxygen and they serve as food for animals, and animals serve as food for us. Perhaps if it would, I would somehow refrain from eating meat, but I know it will never ever make a difference. I love animals, and I am extremely against things like hunting animals for a sport. I don't believe in killing animals for any other reason than what is absolutely nessecary, which is food.

Did I or did I not mention that plants are there to provide oxygen, too? Like it or not, animals are there to provide food. What becomes of the entire planets population of living creatures without food to sustain us? We all fucking die. That's what happens. Food is important, and like it or not, its probably the most important thing ever. Not electricity, not money, food. Because without food, we cannot survive. Obviously animals aren't there only for us to eat, but its their most important purpose.

Do you have your own tiny farm in your back yard where you grow your own fruits and vegetables and farm your own chickens and pigs and cows? Or do you buy your meat at the local grocery store or local butchery like everyone else? Tell you what, if you're SO passionate about it, why don't you quit your padestrian job and devote your entire being to making it absolutely illegal and punishable by death to farm animals on a large scale? Oh that's right, because it is humanly impossible in every way shape and form. I agree with you, you nutjob, I just happened to not be naïve enough to think that me not eating meat is going to change how the world works. I hate how the world works. I hate blackberries, but I use one because its convenient and its there. I hate how we burn through our planets natural resources to fuel power plants and other bullshit, but I'm part of the system because all human beings are unless you're fucking amish. I adore animals and respect living creatures to the core and would give up burgers and bacon in a heart beat if it meant giving all animals a better life but you know what? It doesn't. I'm not disagreeing that the system is fucked, I'm simply stating that it would be pointless not to follow it seing as its the most convenient and cheapest way to live.
