Most overrated and underrated book, in your opinion?

  • Definitely. That's my problem with so many of the Victorian English writers. I know it was the style of the day but it's just tedious. I really do try to read the "classics" but it was a losing battle. The occasional exception is Dickens (Great Expectations and A Christmas Carol are great, although Bleak House and Hard Times are grinding to me).

    • Ya Victorian English writers I really don't enjoy, except for Oscar Wilde. His way of writing is more understandable, he doesn't spend time describing the scenery, he spends it on character developments, and there's actually dialogue. I've never read Dickens, mainly because his books just look way too long, but I don't imagine that he'd be any better. I try to read classics but only from the 20th century.

      • I *love* Oscar Wilde. He's one of my favourites. He's absolutely brilliant. Sorry to butt in, by the way!D: Any chance to praise Oscar Wilde and I'm on it!:P
