    • Generally speaking I'm not emotionally shut down, although I'm immune to certain things which are considered traumatic to others, specifically divorce and parents having relationship problems. It seems to be a big deal to most, but I really couldn't care less. As to why I don't care, I'd say it's consistency. I think I got so used to seeing my parents breaking up and then getting back together that I became immune. Hope that helps:)

      • Yeah, that sometimes does happen. Although I think it's more like numb than immune. But man, that does have a solution. I used to be very completely numb because of the emotional roller coaster my family was and nowadays it's all good. Don't accept it as normal. It isn't, better said, it shouldn't be. Family is the first and foremost important thing in the structure of a healthy development. Unfortunately it has become very "normal" to have a broken family in today's society. Don't accept it bro, but don't sweat it. Look for meaningful friends and risk doing things which you honestly believe will make you happy, even though right now you are probably numb to that feeling aswell. Don't give up, chin up. :)

        • I'm not numb at all, far from it. I've never been very close to my family, so it's never bothered me. I only say I'm immune to it is because so many seem to care about their parents' relationship, but it doesn't effect me. My friends have always been the most important thing in my life, and I don't need to look for anything. I'm not some mess of a person who can't get over their parents shitty relationship, it's never bothered me.
