With enough money you can buy political power.
With enough of the *right type* of political power, you could end up with heaps of money.
Choose money. Having an obscenely influential political presence will probably start grinding most people's gears at some point.
My profession has always put me in a position of immense power over other people's lives. Not fleeting and hollow political power, but real life and death power.
I liked it because I have an immense belief in my ability to keep myself and others safe, even in the most difficult situations, and so far it has worked out very well for all. Not one death and no injuries that could be considered terribly serious.
I feel neither will get you happiness, but I'll choose money because you can pretty much do anything you want with money. I'm certainly in no position of power to change anything and will never be.
If I had as much money as "the one percent" I think I would at least try to make a difference in the world with it. I'd use it to help the less fortunate as far as I would be able to, but I'm not just talking about donations. I would actually like to travel to other countries and figure out how I could help as much people as possible because to me you could serve no greater purpose in your life.
Money is the air we all breathe. Being in the wealthiest 1%, I can say that nothing will broaden your horizons, or give your kids an aristocratically superior education than money. Your life will be longer, healthier, loaded with enriching experiences, and privileged knowledge.
True that some people are too ignorant to handle being rich. For us 1%ers, wealth preservation is not a problem.
