Mods in games

Mods that changes the entire look of characters, dialouge and add new parts to the game or changes the whole layout etc, how are they allowed? Eventually you're not even playing the original game anymore you've made a new one! If I was a game creater I would forbid modding of my game and tell people if they think it's so much fun, make your own game shitheads and ban everyone for life because i'd program in something which detected mods immadiately and banned the player. I think it would be hilarious how the player would then sit there crying about not being able to access the game. My game, my rules peasants.
That would be nice.

Well boo-hoo, you don't have a game, so can it!
No need to be a dick about modding, is your dad an EA employee, or what?

Everyone is free to do what they want with the game they BOUGHT and OWN!

While I'm not a fan of changing the entire game mechanics and altering the game so much so it's something completely different, I do like adding more vehicles in GTA, modding and reskinning cars in racing games and adding more content to stuff like simulators and such.

Modding a game is a bit like tuning your car. You own it and you want to make it truly yours and get the best out of it.

BTW: I got banned from the online part of Need for Speed for my artistic car tuning...

What's wrong with mods? So what if mods change the way you play a game? It extends how long I play said games because where else can I play skyrim and shoot a shrek textured dragon with an RPG while a smol mushroom follows me around?

I kinda hate mods, but I’d still let people use them- they can enjoy/enhance the game however they want.

Modding is a thing because people don't make games good enough so we have to fix them. Ie fallout 4 cause those retards think shooting left handed guns right handed is a good idea. It's cringy as hell and pisses me off.

i mean it depends on the game. modding is an expression of creativity on the part of the playerbase.

Many games only have playerbases because of modding. If it's a multiplayer game, you usually all need to have the same mods to play together anyway; there are always servers without mods as well.

If it's singleplayer, mind your own business, as it's detrimental to nobody that people want to play a different way than intended.

Modding can keep both singleplayer and multiplayer games alive, bringing additional income via continued sales. Why would you NOT want modding to be possible?
