Being hit on by strangers feels very impersonal and having nothing to do with who I am as a person. It makes it very easy to write said person off in my mind as not concerned with getting to know me and just looking for a meaningless hookup.
That being said, unless it’s completely disrespectful and feels like a threat to my safety, I would never respond with negativity or aggression. I just laugh it off a little and politely decline or make a comment about if they actually want to get to know me before making a blind move and take it from there, solely based upon the effort that they put into it. Truly, it is a bit insulting that guys think an easy pickup line or random attention from a stranger is like a buying price and we’re obligated to be yours. Again, I respond politely but it can often happen that trying to brush it off and politely decline can piss a guy off and you get called a bitch, or worse. As a woman, just trying to live your own life, keep to yourself, and feel safe can make you get a bit jaded
Why not just strike up a casual conversation and flirt little by little? Really any other way can be just plainly insulting and impersonal
Modern feminism makes me scared to approach women
