I don't know if I am the only one that feels this way but I am really scared of Mr Roger from Mister Rogers Neighborhood. I never watched the show much as a kid but his picture is frightening to me. I feel behind the eerie smile is something dark and unknowing. He seems to enjoy children way too much. Try to google his picture and tell me that gaze doesn't scare you.
Old Godzilla was hopping around

It's sad how these days an adult can't hang around children without being suspected of being a pedo. Mr. Rogers had a beautiful heart.

I though he was weird or creepy when he took FIELDTRIPS to a factory. Those jobs were horrible and only bearable to be in if they are your last resort for income (I worked in one for several years.) Do this or starve I always thought to myself as I packed boxes all day long.

mr. rogers isnt scary however, he did have a creepy clown mask in one episode, and that did scare me. You can actually see it on youtube, just look up mr. rogers scary clown mask.

Fred Rogers wasnt an "actor" dude. Its his real name. Watch an interview with him sometimes. Thats exactly how he is. A kind and gentle person. It makes me sad that people like you associate someone being a kind and gentle soul like he was with being "creepy"... maybe thats why so few people are like that today and are just assholes instead. Because nobody wants ignornat fucktards like you to think they're "creepy".
I loved Mr. Rogers as a kid. I'd fucking cry if I couldn't watch it. My sisters wanted to watch Big Valley, which I hated.
Yeah, lookin back now kinda creeps me out, but at the time? No way, it was awesome. I really didn't like the land of make believe. Lady Elaine, that fuckin witchy lookin lady near that merry-go-round? Scared me a bit as a kid. Mr. Rogers was very compassionate to children who were on his show. He knew children were basically innocent unless corrupted by sick, twisted adults. I would rather have my eyes gorged out than harm a child. I bet Mr. Roger felt the same way.

When I was in the marines their was a myth going around about mr rogers being a former marine sniper and shit, I never believed it and never cared to look into it. He was sappose to have full sleeve tatoos on each arm and thats why he always had long sleeve shirts on.

That rumor has been debunked on snopes. Check it out. Theres undeniable evidence against it. There was an episode where Mr. Rogers went swimming, and he has no such tattoos. Also, if you look at the year he was born and his age during Vietnam, he was too old to serve. There is no missing period of time in his biography that would allow for military service or training. Again, people throw the word "creepy" around so carelessly. I really hope that every one of you has your children molested by someone who is the exact opposite of what you think "creepy" is. And Mr. McFeely was names after Mr. Roger's father. "McFeely" is a common Scotch/Irish name. Again, people are just so hypersexual they look for anything they can find like that. Fred Rogers is a great man, and I get SO pissed off when people make pedophile assumptions about him. Why? Just because the guy cared about kids? So caring about kids makes you a pedophile now? Watch some interviews with him on Youtube sometime, he is one of the kindest, and gentlest souls ever to walk this earth. I hope that I can be half the man that he is. Yeah, I used to love Mr. Rogers too, and hated that damn king. Looking back though, he did look kind of creepy. He had that strange demeanor which kind of reminds me of those Jehovahs Witnesses that used to come to my house all the time. Strange guy, but his show was cool.

I haven't read the comments that followed your story yet but I often wondered if he was a registered sex offender who was forced to do his show out of some court punishment.
It wasn't so much his face but WHO he was and HOW he was on the show. My autistic son liked the show so I watched it with him but I always wondered about him. I still feel sorry he is dead though.
