Missed period, 18 years old

I'm 18 and my period is late/missing. Up until now it has been very regular, coming every 28 days. Now it's been 38 days since the start of my last period and there are no signs of it coming.
I am definitely not pregnant. I haven't had any major lifestyle changes lately that I can think of. I hope I'm not deathly ill or something.

  • Thanks for the comments. My period actually just got here today, the day after posting, so perhaps I shouldn't be too worried.

I agree she should see a doc, I just thought you went a little overboard saying it could even be cancer and might concern her more than necessary! :)

You've gotta be careful having unprotected sex with guys who don't know how to pull out correctly. Other than that I think girls can have late periods sometimes, but I'm not a doctor. Sorry I can't be more help.

I haven’t had my period for a year. My doctor said I just have to eat healthy and exercise more often to relieve stress. My sister haven’t had her period for less than a year either and her doctor said she has PCOS. Don’t worry, it’s pretty normal, just ask your doctor just to make sure:)

It's highly unlikely to be cancer in an 18 year old, so why scare her like that? And what vitamin supplement are you suggesting would make any difference? There are hundreds of them!

Could be PCOS, I have it too. It's really common, something like 1/10 women have it. As per usual see a doctor if you're worried but it is common for periods to be irregular when you're still young.

It could be malnutrition. Are you eating enough? When I had my eating disorder, my period completely stopped.

Either way, I would say to wait another week and then check with your doctor.

You're just 10 days late, it shouldn't be too concerning. If you don't get your period over the weekend then make an appointment to check it out.
