Its his life and he can do whatever he wants.What refers to your son I agree talk to him and say that you dont want to get into his personal life but as he said he should respect your son.Also dont say negative things about him next to your son.Try not to involve him in such things.He is his dad let him love and respect him or else it will ruin his inner world
