  • Whenever I have been approached first by a girl, it's always a welcome surprise, whether or not I find them attractive. It happens so seldom that us men will usually take it as a compliment. It's also very nice to not feel like you are the one seeking to impress or 'pull', and that the shoe is on the other foot so to speak. You're the 'prize' that she is trying to 'win' - it's a nice feeling.

I think we've warped the traditional gender roles to such a degree that clinging to the notion that men should always approach first is old-fashioned and regressive. I understand why girls resist this idea; I think if it was tradition for females to approach males, us guys wouldn't be too keen on things changing. But come on now, equality requires compromise.

Also, sometimes guys lack the confidence to approach girls they like (I know I do). So if you're waiting around for him to make the first move, you could easily be waiting around forever. If you have the guts to go for it, go for it :)
