Meeting his family

It is my first time meeting a boyfriends family... tonight is the night and I’m worried. I’m naturally quiet and don’t mix well with people but I want to come across as alright... my anxiety tells me that when I am quiet everyone notices and judges me... any tips on what I can say on the first time?

  • Parents like quiet girls. Just smile, look them in the eyes, don't look down at the ground you will look suspicious.

Compliment them on shit, make sure you shake there hands..... just be friendly. I think its ok to be quiet

Jesus Christ Stain, you ought to copyright that post and title it, "How to be complete fake even if it's obvious you are doing so".

What you described is exactly how suburbanites act. FAKE

When I met my boyfriend's mum for the first time I was nervous too. Just smile, be polite, don't panic. If all else fails it doesn't hurt to compliment them on their lovely home.

... but what if it's a nasty ass, white trash redneck home? 🤔

Then she should say, "Oh look, actual pet roaches! How adorable!"

I just thought of this Ford F-150 with MAGA stickers and rebel flags.

People don't notice as much as you think they do. Especially if you're quiet. It's better than being a loudmouth who talks too much.

They will probably directly ask you questions about yourself so you will get the opportunity to speak. Just smile and look people in the eye when you speak to them.

I felt the same way meeting my bfs parents. They are a big part of his life and their approval meant the world to me. Just try hard not overthinking it like I would. I was so scared his parents wouldn't like me because my Mum disapproved of my boyfriend

A proper handshake is always a good start.

Don't feel bad about being a little shy, and quiet. It's better to be a little on the quiet side until you get to know them.

When I met my wifes dad when I was like 17 or something like that. I was nervous he was going to think I was a little bitch so when I went to shake his hand I squeezed really firm and he looked at me crazy and said "damn are you trying to break my hand?". So yeah, dont squeeze too hard.
