This sounds just like me. I feel in love with my best friend who declared herself as bi, but before I heard that she had a girlfriend, I told her that I loved her. It's been really awkward for the past year and yes, a year. They aren't going out anymore, but she still doesn't want to go out with me since we're 'friends and it would be too weird'. So, my advice, if you choose to except it, is wait it out. If it was meant to happen, it will happen. As Jeandy said, don't ask him to cheat on his girlfriend. Just wait for fate to decide and keep your mind off of him for awhile. I know it's hard, but it's the only thing you could really do at this time.
