I think women overestimate it, because the sexually aggressive men are generally more vocal about their desires. You're not going to hear as much from men who only want sex once a month or less, but they're out there. I've run into a lot of men in my age bracket (20's) who don't fit the stereotype because a) they don't want sex that often or b) sexual encounters are just a way to increase their status, and they don't seem to appreciate sex for its own sake.
