Making your guests you invited over for dinner cook with you

I had this happen to me! An acquaintance invited me over to her place for dinner, expecting me to partake in cooking the meal.

Cooking is a communal thing. You should offer to help even if you are not asked.

I would actually be okay with it. Seems like a nice idea.

They probably thought it would be a fun activity to do with guests. It's really nothing to feel upset over.

  • Such scumbags! Taking the time to invite you over, and expecting you to help out a bit with preparing the food they spent their money on! Christ, what is with people these days?

If I'm invited, then I'm not working.

I probably wouldn't enjoy it very much as I don't even enjoy cooking for myself.

But weird unless previously arranged. Would be more of a friend thing than acquaintance, I would have thought.

  • Why did she want you to partake? It’s odd to me.

Not odd at all. To partake = to eat. If I were invited for a meal, I would expect to partake of it, rather than sit and watch everyone else eating.
