Living in the mountains

I am sick of life in the real world, I want to go out on my own and move into the mountains. I want to live by the river and build a shack by it. I want to grow corn and vegtables and live off of hunted animals I will catch in my traps. Im sick of taxes im sick of people I dont like im just sick of everything. I want to find a women to go with me and have kids with her and start my own village I want my kids to grow up in a world I have created for them. Does anyone agree?

Wow I had no idea so many other people fantasized about this. I wonder if there are secret villages off in the wilderness where the people with the balls to follow through all went.

Yeah, i'd love to live on a deserted sun soaked island with a woman who i love and we could grow all our own food etc... i would settle for that in the mountains though.

    I agree completely.

I'd prefer to live on an island though. And with a man, not woman.

i have dreamed manys a time about escaping and breaking away from the real world... this often made me feel sucidal even. i would stare at landscape drawings and pictures of rivers an dream i could escape it. i still do nowadays but i have become more content with my work and found an things and people that intrest me. i think you should do the same.
im not a person that want to force a person to integrate with eveyone else. i feel you should find things in this modern world that intrest you and persue them.

saying that my father still works and every weekend he takes the car and disapears into the hills with walking boots. i love to do the same aswell. its great to get back in touch with nature. i feel it is important to not forget your roots but you have to keep up with the world if you want to better yourself personally i feel.

thats jsut my opinion... live love to live in alaska if i was to breakaway :-)

I've always felt that something like that would be fun, and a much better way to live life. Theres just one problem. The next generation in your village will all be related. They will need to go kidnap some outsiders, either that or the the third generation will be filled with disgusting products of incest.

Well i have done it for 2 years and it is not that bad and i am going out agin for longer ...i am not saying it is easy it is not but sometimes it will not be hard either....iam wondering if some of u are just wanting to do it just for a month or 2 and not for the longhaul or are u just talking about it...it does get cold but u do climatise to the weather .....and u have got to be able to read the weather or the wildlife and even your suroundings and know what water u can drink .....so i bet most of u are just talkers and not doers

Been there done that. U do get used to the climate. Living in Colorado was a great time. I miss the 4 seasons. Fall being my fave with all the colors. I live in Louisiana now and miserable ☹️

I wish I could have a cottage and possibly a farm out in the wilds of either Iceland or Nunavut. I would love to be be self-sustainable living off the grid and being one with nature.

I don't think I could live there. It is my thought that it would be a good place to die. Sitting under a tree overlooking a wild and secluded valley, maybe a view of the sunset. WInd blowing softly through the trees, a few birds singing their lifes song, sending me off to sleep, not to wake up. My body to decay and return to the soil and become a part of this wonderful place.

Id only the world wouldn't be so overpopulated, it could be more easily done. Many people like material values, the just make money and spend it. They are shallow.

Yes, It's completely normal. It's even recommended. (In 21st Century we have wireless internet, solar panels etc. It can be quite comfortable and exciting to live there)

  • Do it, but learn the necessary skills FIRST. Do not be like Christopher McCandless. Some tips: Oak, maple, and ash make good bows, machetes suck, and porcupines taste nasty.

It is completely normal to us who love nature. It's in our spirit and our soul. I have lived among the mountains with my children. Camping during the summer months and renting during the school months.work as I needed. But most importantly being one with nature. I am currently residing with my mother and trying to do the 9-5 grind but it is literally killing my spirit and my soul is dying from lack of nature. I do not like society. However, I am friendly and professional as needed. I jus feel at home when I am among nature. It is the best therapy God has given us.
Soon we will venture back out there. No destination. Jus an atlas and a dart.
If God provides us a man to provide for us, great, but as a single mom I am very used to doing things on our own. God always provides for us.
I have no fears or worries. It's society that will fail.. God's plan never fails.

I also have fantasized on that pretty often. As a child I used to run away and stay in the woods quite often. I am getting older now at 43 and it is weighing on my mind a lot more often to do it. I might even do it with in the next couple of months.

Agree, but I live in the mountains myself, and when I go out bush it's not all good.

Leeches, Spiders, Snakes, mosquitoes. There are lots of reason why it can be just as much of a pain in the ar*e as the city.

Sick of living in the real world? Nah, you're searching for it.

Instead of talking about it, maybe you should just do it.

reminds me of a book i read when i was younger.
I cant remember the name but it involved a boy who ran away from home i believe and moved into a forest or something and he had a pet falcon.

but anyways, its normal to think like that, i've always wanted to run away and live another life somewhere but sadly where i live there are no mountains

I'm so glad I had seen this post in the forum. I have thought about this a lot before. I had made up scenarios and how I could possibly survive. But the thing is, I do plan on living there. But I want a nice hosue right i nthe middle of the mountains. Maybe not a shack! But it is a fun good idea. I agree with you!
