Light pollution isn’t real

You’ve probably heard a lot about light pollution which is given as the reason why most people can’t see as many stats as they used to, especially no longer being able to see the Milky Way.

However light pollution ALONE has minimal effects. I remember going to Chicago in 1991 and seeing plenty of stars in the heart of downtown when light pollution which much worse.

So what is the TRUE cause? Cloud seeding which prevents the light escaping the atmosphere and reflecting it back down. This is about control, not care for the environment.

Can you see stars in chicago? Yes. Can you see the fucking galaxy? No.

I 100% believe in light "pollution" I'd really just call it just a side effect of mass lights as you arent literally polluting anything.

You can still see the galaxy, you just need to be hundreds of miles away from any civilization. Kinda the best part of doing patrols in the navy, when it was clear (and you couldn't see your own god damn hand in front of you, you could see the REAL night sky.

It's a tradeoff for living with modern convenience

How far do you have to be from civilization? I go through west kentucky every night where its extremely rural and I havent noticed a difference. I havent really checked for it tho. Im gonna try and see tomorrow night.

Best is to be very far off the coast in the sea or the great lakes. You need a couple hundred miles of darkness in front of you to see the galaxy as its faint as fuck comparatively when you are next to clustered open lights.

Not a physicist but my guess is that it's due to light bouncing off in every single direction and you need to get far enough away from those angles of light to see the milky way lights from your position. Thousands of lights even in a small town send off enough light from far enough away to obsure the little amount of light from the galaxy.

I could see them when I lived in the deep mountains with only a handful of neighbors, if we & they all turned off all their lights you could see everything. It looked kind of like these:

            Fucking existing creates pollution.

That being said we shouldnt dump sulfur into the oceans so I cant be 100% against all the climate stuff.

Lead is really bad. If you look at a chart of US lead exposure and put it next to a chart of violent crime in the US the charts are almost the exact same. Correlation doesnt mean causation but alot of times it does. It damages your brain especially as a kid. They use to have lead in gasoline here in the US!
