If you want to be a drug addict, yes, go ahead, but I think you'll find any responsible doctor won't keep prescribing them and you'll have to go the doctor shopping route.
I use panadeine forte, which contains codeine, occasionally for migraines and also at the moment for a very painful shoulder injury which I hope is temporary. I know quite well that I could get addicted to them because I feel great when I'm on them, but my gp carefully monitors how often I ask for a script.
