Lawyer never deposited my check

I saw a lawyer and gave his bookkeeper a $395 check for the one hour meeting. This was about a month ago and it hasn't been deposited yet. Should I let it go or follow up with them to find out why it hasn't been deposited yet? I know it's a lot of money, but he gave me some very good advice and I would like him to be fairly compensated. I don't know if this was a mistake on their part, or if this was intentional as this was the first time we met. I know some lawyers offer a free initial consultation. I am pretty sure my check didn't bounce, and they have my contact info.

    Surely if you know it hasn't been deposited, you would also know whether or not it had bounced?
