The first sexual relationship I had was with a 24 year old man who had been with about 70-80 women (he'd lost track of the real number and some of it was drunken). When he told me, before the first time we had sex, I was in awe of the number. And yes, it was true, he was not exaggerating.
It didn't revolt me, I just had trouble wrapping my brain around the number. I kept imagining all the women in the same room at the same time and it seem like so many. Then he said, "Well, it's not like I fucked them all in the same year!" I think he misinterpreted my silence as judgement. So I explained that I didn't find it off-putting, that I was merely naive that normal people actually would have sex with that many different people (I was only 19 at the time).
He explained that he'd lost his virginity at a young age (13) since he'd always look older than his real age and started busing tables at a bar when he was only 16 years old. He'd worked at bars for years and when he was single would have sex with a different woman almost weekly. He was extremely attractive too. It made a lot more sense when he explained the circumstances behind the number.
I was fine with the large number and I never felt like I was being compared to anyone from the past. I was a little concerned about the risk of disease, but we used condoms.
