Ladies, can you stop a wee mid flow? (And then start again, obviously.) It's supposed to mean the pelvic floor muscles are in good shape. (Guys join in as well if you like, but please state that you're a guy.)
I don't think it's bad except when you hold pee in for very long periods of time. I held my pee in for 6 hours on a road trip, cause we were stuck in a standstill on the highway due to a blizzard. I was fine for the first 5.5 hours, but the last half hour it was one of the most painful experiences ever, and continued even after I finally relieved myself.
But holding your pee in mid pee is how guy's can practice / exercise the muscles so that they can hold in an orgasm, to prevent premature ejaculation and/or achieve multiple orgasms.
That's probably it. Holding it for that long is almost guaranteed to end in UTI fun time :/
Yeah, women are told to use the muscles like you're stopping midflow for pelvic floor exercises, but not actually doing it when peeing. I do mine when I'm just sitting around, if I remember. I need to remember more. Bleh. Mental effort.
My pilates instructor told us that they generally told men to train their pelvic floor by telling them to use the muscles like they were trying to draw up their balls, not stop midflow. But I wasn't really listening, on account of not having a penis, and therefore not really being concerned about it :P
