IIRC being very athletic can actually delay (or stop) your period. And by very athletic I mean "extremely" not just running a few times each week.
And some girls develop extra early.
over on wiki there's a page that talks about the youngest mothers... the youngest is currently 5 years old and supposedly she started her period before she was 3.
