  • Why is everyone here going on about the law? Yeah, because every single pothead gets arrested. Getting arrested is far, far harder than it sounds.

I'm a Canadian, born and raised, and I keep having to tell the kids in all my classes to stop loudly bothering me with questions about how much pot I smoke or what drugs I do while I'm trying to actually do my work. Not one of them's been caught by a teacher. Why? Because the teachers get far more high than the students could ever hope to get. I've had teachers who've handed dropped pot and mushrooms back to their students on numerous occasions, whenever the OPP officer comes to talk with any of my classes they always use growing pot and pot in people's basements as the illegal drug examples, and every time I hear people all around me turn to the guy sitting next to them and say, "I have pot in MY basement!" and the cop never says word one.

The point is, getting caught takes effort. I in fact was offered speed by a meth head shooting up and getting drunk shouting out cat-calls to the women who passed by when I was 12 walking home from school as I went through the town square (Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out I declined) and you know what? He's never been arrested in 39 years of life, and I in fact still see him frequently wandering around town.

Don't hate the criminal or the crime, hate the one who screws with them for the sake of giving them a hard time, because people are people no matter what they smoke.

    • Hello? I don't have a problem with legalizing it. I just don't want to be associated with someone who can get arrested at any moment for what's in their pocket. MOST people who get arrested for drug posession get stopped for something else initially. It also speaks volumes if someone is so willing to just shirk the law. To me, I don't see how it's worth it. I don't want to be with someone who thinks smoking weed (feeling high for a few hours) is worth from hundreds of dollars in fines up to years in prison. I don't want MY life turned upside down for my spouses indiscretions either. What if they lost their job? Got a record and can't get another one? Lose their job for failing a drug test? And so on. It's just irresponsible.

I'm ALL for legalization, I don't think any drug should be illegal. But untill they ARE legal, stay away. If you don't care, then that's your choice, but you're not going to change MY mind about it.

    • (BTW, the reply buttons are wonky. I accidentally clicked one of 'em and refreshed before I wrote something and it came up under their stuff. Strange...)
