I watched a documentary on the substance and to just understand why it is called "Krokidil" (Which is Russian for Crocodile) - the skin of long term users goes black and resembles the scales of a crocodile and the flesh rots away.
I watched the same thing, iirc that only occurs if they don't inject it right into the vein. I also remember the people could make the drug from ordinary over-the-counter stuff.
