Keep track of friend's information?

I don't do this, but I've been having thoughts of keeping track of information (likes, dislikes, allergies) of my friends on a physical form or like a digital document. Mostly just so I don't forget, and I don't end up giving them the wrong kind of gift. But I was wondering if maybe that would be too weird, and I should opt to remember this sort of information instead?

Honestly people do this kinda thing all the time, and they just don't wanna admit it later. I've done this as a kid, only in my head. My family had a nasty habit of going through my personal belongings, both digital and otherwise, so my memory became the safest place to store information.

I've heard plenty of people say that they'd write little lists about friends and crushes and then reference them so that they wouldn't accidentally embarrass themselves...this had mixed results obviously, lol. But it's not weird, it just looks weird.

I personally don't care much about my friends info or extended info.

There was once this weirdo I worked with and he used to always ask me weird questions like "what time did you get here today? What time are you leaving?"

One day he asked me that and walked off into a trailer it seemed really off so I walked by and peaked in there and he had a fuckin notepad and a pen! He was writing it down I think. That very day I got moved to the other side of the building I told the bosses I hated the guy. They said yeah we hate him too hes gonna shoot this place up one day but hes in the union so we cant fire him, we already tried.

thats what ridiculous and contradictory info is for

'im late because i took my hot air baloon to work today and the wind was against me'

      hours later:

'hot air baloon? are you fuckin stupid? who has onea those? i got caught waitin for a freight train'

but theres no train tracks on your commute!

'no i was drivin the train its mine and i take it to work every mornin'

I shoulda played with him but I tried my best to not communicate with him at all. He would ask me weird ass shit like to back into each trailer on the dock so he can lower the legs so the trailer is an inch higher. This serves absolutely no purpose hes just a fuckin weirdo. He asked me to do it one day I didnt know what he was talking about, I backed in said "this good", he lowered the legs then was like ok good now just 10 more trailers. I said "hold on I gotta use the bathroom" and never came back. Every day for a week he was asking if id help him lower the legs I always found a way out of it. He eventuslly quit asking me to do shit but he was strange as hell.

Anothrt time a worker fell asleep he couldnt wait to take pictures of him and send it to bosses

    • I definitely acknowledge that would be weird and uncomfortable. But I was thinking more along the lines of keeping track of things to gift/not to gift, instead of constantly asking a particular friend about it everytime and sometimes ruining the surprise.
