  • Only insecure dogs bark a bunch.
They're more apt to bite too.
    ( poodles, chiuahuas, etc. )
    A real dog rarely barks.
    He/she just knows.
    Nothing to prove.

      • Ive been there.
        it sucks.
Its as if the owner is deaf or something.
I love animals, but I wanted to kill the non stop barking neighbors dog.
Its very irritating when owners allow that type of behavior.

        • We lived in one house where in a 12 month period we did not once get to sit down and eat dinner in peace, not one night.

They would bark from anywhere from 30 mins to 2 hours non stop in the morning, then 4 hours non stop starting around 5 or 6 pm, then woken up around 2 am with it yelping and fighting.

          • F'd up owners.
            I saw a couple today.
            sitting there with their dog.
He just sat next to them and barked at people.
They were clueless and semi deaf.
They finally got him to chill.
But, I cant imagine what home is like for them.
Properly trained, a dog will not bark.
            unless there's a reason.

            • Yeah I have seen that its like 50% of the population are immune to barking, its like their brains just block it out. My auntie is one of them, she has multiple silky terriers and they bark non stop. I go over there and she talks to me and i'm like how the hell can you even hear yourself think. How can you have a conversation with them things yapping in you ear.

I have a dog, its just an instinct for me to shut it up or growl at it when it barks. I don't wait to its been barking for a period of time, I hush it up strait away. Not that it really barks, and when it does its literally like 2 seconds then it just sit there and stalker watch watever it was.

        • I have had to do that before. Its funny, you put up with their dogs day in and day out for months maybe years, then when they get one little letter or a knock on the door from animal control they have a hissy fit and can not for the life of them understand that others don't want to have to hear that crap.

          • Usually people who are responsible for annoying sounds do not seem to understand that no one else wants to hear it. Loud engines, music, dogs barking, their cell phone, late night arguments, loud parties...

In some jurisdictions, maybe yours too, you have to have evidence of the noisy disturbance before a citation can be issued or a court case. Like several days of video evidence (a couple minutes a day perhaps), logs, and maybe at least one neighbor who would be willing to serve as a witness. Animal control in your town can tell you the specifics.

It is a lot of hassle but if that is what it finally takes. It comes down to - do you want to put a stop to it or just let the neighbors get away with it? If they are doing you no favors, you owe them nothing. So what if they have a fit? They need to shut their god damn dogs up.

Resist the temptation to hurt the dogs though. No need to put yourself in legal trouble. Go through the proper legal channels and when the neighbors get fined or even learn they COULD be, they might re-think letting their precious little noise makers outside to bark non stop.

      • Aethyl.
        Dogs arent perfect.
Im just saying from what I have seen.
small dogs are more likely to bark, and bite.
( given the same quality of owner. )
A big dog is a dangerous and deadly animal if raised to act that way.
        The pit bull attacks,
        They are horrifying.
But they are the result of how the dog was raised.
A poodle or chiuawa may try the same acts.
A big dog has the bite to back up the bark.
I just dont believe in bad dogs.
        Just shitty owners.

          • Aethyl?
            Bitten, no.
            Pee'd yes.
Right on your carpet, purse, seat, or wherever the "dog"
            Was at.
If a little ratt dog isn't barking or biting.
            Its shivering and peeing.

    • Makes sense. Like everything in nature that is small has to prove itself.

    • My dog never barks. She just watches people and stalks up to them all the way down the fence line. Then if they say hello she’ll put her head up and wag her tail. I swear, she’s Mr. Pickles.
