I got stuck with this girl who's depressed and spending all her time in our dorm cutting and burning herself. I thought college was gonna be fun but it's terrible so far. I want to go home to normal people.
Just ignore her, or you can request a different roommate. They probably won't make her move, but rather have you move instead.

idk man, that's not that weird. Not to burst your bubble but there's alot of cutters and burners you'll meet. If she's in her room doing this in private just let her be, you're not her guardian angel or therapist. If it bothers you that bad and you want the cliche party college life, just request a different dorm. If she's doing this infront of you or something that's a different story.

I was a former cutter, and I’ve known LOTS of cutters. I’ve dated two cutters and was friends with a few others. But the only way I found out is because I accidentally seen their scars. No one ever self harmed in front of me. And I never self harmed in front of someone else. People don’t cut themselves in front of people unless they want attention. What this girl is doing is very selfish. She could be triggering so many people. I agree, she should get some help either way, but if she’s doing it in front of people, it’s a really shitty thing to do.
Yeah, me too. The very least OP could do would be speak to a school counsellor or chaplain about it rather than focussing on how it affects him/her.
Leave lots of razor blades and scissors laying around your room. In a week and a half you'll have a new roommate and she'll be heavily sedated and under constant supervision. (Or six feet under)
Does she do that shit in front of you? Like, I used to self harm but I was embarrassed of it and didn’t show it to people. If she’s doing it in front of you, she probably just wants attention so I would ignore it and/or try to get a new roommate. If she’s doing it when you’re not around, I would try to help her stop and if she doesn’t, get a new roommate. Even if you never self harmed, maybe tell her “Look, I used to struggle with self harm and what you’re doing is triggering. I would like you to stop but if you don’t want to, please at least have the decency to do it when I’m not around because you’re triggering as fuck.” Then tell the campus counselor.
