Jekyll and hyde

my boyfriend is 42 he suffers from really bad depression, we do not live together i get mixed messages he can be really nice but sometimes wont talk or call or answer my text, and when i ask him why he says he is depressed and is trying to sort himself out.says he loves me and wants to wake up beside me every morning.
i am a bit scared of the mood swings as i say one minuet hes ok and the next he can bite my head of hes like a jekyll and hyde i find myself backing of because of this even tho i do love him

Is It Normal?
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • yeah the inconsistency of being normal one day and a stick in the mud the next does more psychological damage (aka mind fucking) than if he was just constantly a stick in the mud.I dated a guy like that for a while and it wasnt until months later that i realized how oppressing and suffocating the relationship was.

  • If it gets real bad or if you think he might be endangering his life or someone else's I would call someone and get them to visit him at his house.

  • It sounds like he maybe bipolar. Tell him to speak with a doctor/psychiatrist.

  • Help him get help! It is normal bc it is too common... But it's not normal b/c things don't need to be that way.
Therapists are not scary and will take more time to get to know your bf and give an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan.
