So am I right in thinking that you think about this guy a lot? Wether it's for better or worse (usually worse by the sounds of it)
I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that you are in some way using this guy to satisfy your need for male attention. You don't really like him at all but convincing yourself that you do allows you to keep him close and continue satisfying that need. You're probably not attracted to him but knowing he's attracted to you also boosts your ego and you don't want that to end. You're not satifying your emotional needs with any other guy so for now... "he" can do it.
You probably feel socially awkward around him because you're embarassed of him and in some way ashamed to be his friend...
..now,
if you read all that and you think to yourself "what a load of shit" and feel somewhat agry about some of the suggestions then yes, you probably do like him more than you think.
funnily enough, I actually think he would be so nice if he wasnt desperate for me to like him or to go out with me. but if he didn't like me I would never have even considered liking him...
