It's just that you are very far from home, and you're feeling alone and probably a little uneasy. Totally normal to feel out of place in a foreign land! It's just a coping technique you're using, which if anything shows mental health, not mental deficiency.
Oh, and everyone talks to themself. I do it all the time. If anyone tells you they don't they're lying to you and they don't want to admit it :)
