Its very odd for a soldier....

Whenever im in Iraq and i have to go on a misson alone i usually pretend that i have one of my men there with me to help me through it.Once in a while ill talk to the "person". I'm not one ounce skitzofrenic(not sure how to spell it) but it just kinda helps me cope with the fact that im alone. What are your thoughts on this, please post a comment no matter what it is.

My dad was in for 33 years and never heard of anyone going on a mission alone. I've been in for six years an never heard of anyone going on a mission alone. I've been with 10th group over in the box and none went alone. That's not a US strategy roaming off by yourself. It looks cool in video games and paintball but there is no strategical advantage to doing loner missions. Unless your an undercover spy. But then again that wouldt be SF and you wouldn't be alone.

No dumb ass. Special forces doesn't go on missions alone. Not even snipers. They have spotters go with. Quit trying to be someone your not. NOBODY goes on missions alone. Not SF not rangers not snipers not delta. No one.

Yeah it's called personification. People who are lonely talk to their dogs, plants, etc. I think in the movie Castaway, the guy even makes himself a "friend" to talk to.

    That's normal.

It's just that you are very far from home, and you're feeling alone and probably a little uneasy. Totally normal to feel out of place in a foreign land! It's just a coping technique you're using, which if anything shows mental health, not mental deficiency.

Oh, and everyone talks to themself. I do it all the time. If anyone tells you they don't they're lying to you and they don't want to admit it :)

From one soldier to another, thank you so much for your service and come home safe! You're a hero!

Your probably not a special forces soldier then, because we do that all the time.

Reading that makes me see a strong soldier who does what he has to do to make it through. You're honorable for what you do - it's more honorable than being anything else.
