In my opinion, the saying itself is wrong. No one should take credit away from anyone, no gender should take credit away from another. While it is true that many men have progressed with the help of women, many women have also progressed with the help of men. If the saying is not sexist in its original form, it is not sexist the other way around. If it is sexist in its original form, then it is sexist both ways. It is as clear as day, there is no need to look for references to the past or anything like that. We are in the present and we struggle to live in the present, so why justify immature and sexist actions by events that happened in the last century?
It said behind great men there is a woman, but saying it reverse is sexist?
