Apprehension is normal. But so is disappointment. Here's my opinion:
There are three kinds of virginity. The kind you have before you have sex, the kind you have before you have REALLY GOOD SEX, and the kind you have before you have really good sex with someone you love and who loves you.
You can take care of the first one like it's a business deal. Maybe even the second one. But last one doesn't work that way. I suspect the confidence boost you'd get from asking someone out is much stronger than the confidence boost you'd get from taking care of your virginity. But in the end, it's your call.
