It is normal what i saw today in my country?

I live in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia , i am arabic , today i saw the execution of a criminal in a public square and hanged him in front of the people ,he did something bad ,he attaced a house and killed a woman inside the house by hammer and raped her after her death , and stole about 300000 rial =80000 us dollar , and tried to kill the family by cooking gas , Do u think it is will be normal if America did the same thing , are you agree if america did the same thing ?

    man, the Saudis got it right - the guy is a homicidal nutter with necrophilliac tendencies. string him up and set an examply for the rest. Yeah, totally normal -I wish they would do it in every country.

    What's not normal is that they hanged him instead of beheaded him. I thought in Saudi Arabia beheading was still the penalty for such crimes, usually in the parking lot of a mosque right after Friday prayers.

    They used to do hold public executions in Europe in the Middle Ages as well. Most people would consider this practice barbaric nowadays. No offense, but your country isn't exactly renowned for its human rights record. It's the only place in the world where women are not allowed to drive.

    I don't believe in execution but if I lived in a country which did practice it, I'd hope all executions were public. The condemned man or woman is going to die anyway. They may as well use their last moments shocking people into being afraid to commit serious crime.

    I'd never go and witness a public execution so it wouldn't affect me either way.
