I don't know if it's normal but I know people who do this too. The best way to deal with it is to flip out when they come over unannounced.
One time I had just got out of the shower and I stood in front of the large mirror naked practicing swinging my flail mace. While doing so a couple of my friends came to the sliding glass door by where I was and saw what I was doing. I yelled at them saying "make sure you call first. I might have been doing something weird."
They did not come by randomly for quite a while.
It if normal to randomly show up at someones doorstep?.
