  • I would say that not everyone is depressed, that is a ridiculous claim. It's very common, but that's far from everyone having it. Life is hard in different ways for everyone, but it's how well you handle the challenges of life that determine if your depressed. I am not depressed however I used to be. You could maybe say that everyone will be depressed at some point in their life, but there is no way everyone is depressed at this moment.

    • I never claimed that, the author claimed that haha
Just saying that we think others must be feeling like shit too in that kinda, or a similar situation or just being alive
I have trouble understanding the will to live, especially in bad times or in stories that basically fuck with their characters all the time. For example in GoT I was at some point questioning why they stay alive, I mean die and u don’t suffer anymore. I know it’s not real and there are many variables, but just a situation like that. But at the same time I know most people don’t wanna die, even though I don’t understand it

Alright the second thing I wanted to mention
Nowadays more people go into the open with their feelings, it’s more acceptable than it was back in the days.
We may have more things, but we’re also more vulnerable to stress. Many factors, though it’s probably not that much higher compared to the past
I understand why u feel this way
All people do is work and have children, repeat, gloomy faces, crowds that move like machines and you’re own deep hole that sees the same hole in those faces

      • Well that's quite opposite of how I see things. I don't see how anyone loses the will to live, because there is always an opportunity for things to get better moving forward. However, I was mildly suicidal when I was in early high school but that was because of sexual things not really because I didn't enjoy my life. I think purpose in life is what keeps people going in times of depression. For me it was lifting weights and pursing women, as long as I could do those things I would look forward to everyday and get excited. That plus enjoying the little things in life like food, music, masterbation and of course funny things like this site and steven crowder you tube videos.

        • The bad things outweigh the good ones
U don’t wanna know how many people I know tried and did commit suicide
When ur in that deep u can’t enjoy the little things mate. Of course never compare yourself, just sometimes the will is gone but u still have to continue
Anyways the point was, people see things differently but ultimately project their emotions onto others
Also once u start feeling that or noticing it, you’ll be more aware of if it’s happening on the outside. That had a word too. Haa my memory now

          • What your saying makes little sense but I can't explain my view well on this either to be fair.

            • Haa what i was saying is, u feel and felt something. U then see a person and the emotions attached to u deeply, are the ones u associate to whatever the person is going through
Meaning if u have a good outlook on life, u won’t think that many are depressed cuz ur feeling better. When a depressed person sees others, after a while of dealing with it they’ll think all the others suffer too. Not all of them, but I know a few

      • I think you could. Depending on the severity required so consider one depressed.

        • A CDC study estimated that around 15% of Americans will be clinically depressed at some point in their lives.

That figure surprised me, since I thought it would be higher.

          • Wut? That sounds extremely low. Maybe that's just the ones that actually get diagnosed?

          • to be honest I wouldn't trust no research on the matter, or I would take it with a grain of salt and assume it to only be a small part of the bigger picture. so basically that 15% might be close to accurate, but that would probably only be a statistic of the people actually diagnosed, right?

        • Clinically depressed. Not "I just broke my favorite pencil and now I'm kinda upset"

          • What time frame is required to be clinically depressed? Everyone has something real bad happen once, like death of a family member. I guess some people are psychopaths so maybe they wouldn't ever be depressed.

            • Situational depression != clinical depression, although there is some controversy over this ATM since the DSM V changed some of that. Generally, symptoms are diagnosed over two weeks IIRC.
