Isitnormal that my wife and i speak a language only her and i know?

MT wife and I speak Esperanto, which we learned together. We are two of the most fluent people who speak this made up language in the world.
We find it comical that we can change into this language in mid sentence and people usually don't pick up that we changed over. They assume that they just didn't understand us.

Is this normal?

It sounds like a good step to learning other languages. I have heard that each time you learn a new language it makes it easier to learn another. Learning a root language like Latin goes a long way to learning a new language since a lot of languages can trace their roots back to Latin.

My husband and I dont speak a true language, but we started pretending to speak the cow lanague from Diablo ii as a joke when we were still dating, and still sometimes slip into just mooing at each other which some people find mighty confusing. And occasionally get upset because we're both fat and think the mooing is insulting each other.

    • I highly recommend Esperanto. Comparatively? From our experience, there's no comparison. Esperanto is so easy, I think you could learn it in your sleep if you tried.

There are some good resources online, some of which are free. Good luck and we hope you the best.

I never got to learn it. Are you spiritualists?

    • Not spiritualist, but we both wanted to learn a foreign language and picked Esperanto because it's so easy to learn. I recommend it to anyone as a stepping stone language to help, learn other Latin based languages. It only took us each about 80 hours to get a basic fluency and 150 hors to be fully fluent. It's also a very fun language to speak.

    • We got the idea from my grandmother and me as a child. The rest of the family had forgotten that she spoke frisian, since no one had heard her speak it since she was a teen. She would talk to me in frisian during the day and English after my parents got home. It was our special little secret. I can't remember any of it now, but I really love that grandma and I had our own secret language. She was the best.
