Is war necessary to resolve conflicts?

In my mind, the act of War and killing is insane. To calmly and purposely plan an attack in order to carry out murder is not a sane, reasonable or rational action.

What do you think??

  • Its not necessary but its the easiest way to solve the problem which I find it lazy and an un-intellegent way of solving a conflict.

A war happening is a normal thing, I can tell you that. People die in war, naturally. Is that good? Not at all! Is there any other way to stop <other F___ing Taliban, Nazis or even Kamikaze Japs? No, you have to kill some of them and show the rest who is the daddy..

P.S: I am defiantly not American.

    War is necessary.

When evil rears its ugly head you are suppose to cut it off. You're not suppose to convince yourself that evil is right and must be protected. Or that you can "fix" it by hugging it and holding its hand.

There is a time for peace and a time for war.

War is caused by GREED..nothing else. Greed for the land and the things that the land can give the victor..oil, gold, water, diamonds, fertile soil etc. Greed!!! and guess who wants it all????

War has been needed to do many great, heroic, just things. It has also been needed to do mean, evil, terrible, unhuman things. War should always be a last resort.

  • Do I agree with war? No. Is it necessary? Yes.
Although war only results in destruction and more enemies, when neither side is open for cooperation then it is necessary. Do you honestly think that these extremists can be stopped without war?

It used to be, but now we have dozens of ways to communicate with one another, regardless of native tongue or location. It's no longer necessary. Secret incarceration, yes; perhaps even the occasional execution. But civilian war? No. Plus, it would be better to keep political criminals alive in order to discover how they came to be in their position and who else shares their views and/or is involved in similar activities.

In a perfect world, we wouldn't need war. But this world isn't perfect, no matter what happens, there's always going to be someone who will resort to shooting someone else in order to get what they want. There's always going to be somebody who will do atrocious and unspeakable things to innocent people to prove a point. A government must be ready to protect its people, or stand up and fight for those who can't protect themselves.

I don't agree with every war, but sometimes war is just a necessary evil.

It can seem like the simplist option but often it causes more harm than good even when it is for a good cause.

    • Somehow killing someone for a 'good cause' seems strange to me.

Or is it only good if you call it War.

No... If there were sensible people in control of the wealth there would be no war, hunger, or suffering. What we have are greedy and sadistic "people" sending other peoples children to die for control (power). there are about 5 nations left to conquer and the outcome wont be pretty if they succeed...luckily i will have died fighting the opposition...

War is insane, but sometimes insanity is necessary. That's the price of society. You get to benefit from all the group work, but then you become a bigger target of labels and over generalization. No one wages wars against individuals.

When at least one of two sides refuse to see reason, then war happens, thus war is at least 50% insane!

  • It doesn't matter. I simply would not fight.

    • Now that is a real man....it takes a strong person NOT to fight. Any stupid beast can fight and kill but only a intelligent human can restrain themselves.

It's never black and white. War can be justifiable at times, and unjustifiable at others. It's easy to think in purely sentimental and philosophical terms until you actually experience violent conflict.

  • War is sometimes a necessary insanity...

caused by the inevitability of old men in power to act irrationally.

Well some people or countrys just dont get the picture unless you put a gun to there heads. And you got to think sometimes Diplomicy has cost more than war, it sounds unlikely but its true

War is the result of bargaining failures and incomplete information. Countries have a tendency to give off costly signals to make it seem like they are stronger than they are. For example say country A 5 units "strong" and country B is 1 unit "strong". If country B came out and said okay we are weaker than you then the two countries could come to an agreement and avoid war. But that's not how it usually happens. Country B will mobilize troops and invade surrounding countries to make it SEEM like there are 5 units strong causing A to feel threatened and less secure causing war. At this point war is the only way to reveal the true information about the two countries. War will continue until we come up with a way to see complete information about countries and when they are bluffing.
War is more complicated than this of course but this is one theory in international relations.

war is necessary because not all humanity is on the same side.

So it was irrational to stop Hitler from throwing sand at everyone during playtime?

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • Wow, this is scary. I actually thought man-kind had evolved a bit past barbarism.

Strange [to me] how two supposedly intelligent leaders of countries will find it impossible to avoid war. Never mind that the citizens of said countries are willing to kill. But these leaders are supposed to be the smartest and most diplomatic representatives of their people, in fact their people think so highly of them that they "Voted" them to lead to whole country. And yet, War is still a viable option in which to settle future conflicts.

    Interesting...sad but interesting none-the-less.

If you thought mankind had 'evolved' beyond war then you obviously don't pay attention to the news of the world. There is always war somewhere.

War is sometimes necessary when a country threatens others. However, I still think it should be last option to be used, if there really is no other way to end the conflict.

And Americans have misunderstood this. Just because they don't know anything about other countries, it doesn't give them the right to attack. All Americans don't even know who they are fighting against, but they still think it's necessary.
