Arguably, rock n roll evolved out of southern gospel music which was sung in African American churches. Chuck Berry stepped up the beat, and secularized it for general consumption. Another song called "Pots and Pans" by a kid named E. Presley, gave early 50's rock some direction as well. Then came the tidal wave. Yeh.
Maybe I can interject an important tidbit here that the Beach Boys ripped off Chuck Berry's song 'sweet little sixteen' with 'surfin ' usa' and tried to pass it off as their own.
Is this true of african americans all over the world?
