Is this normal sleep behavior?

I reciently took up bondage (after years of reading about it) and now I can’t go to sleep without being tied up. Since this is self bondage, I triple check all contact points to make sure nothing is too tight, and always keep a pocket blade next to me for emergencies. There’s something abour the resistance and struggle that turns me on and naturally tires me out. When I wake up (if i didnt untie anything in my sleep) i get a quick rush while trying to remember where the knots are. Is this normal or should I quit before I accidentaly choke myself out?

    • I live in a house where everyone should be sleeping at night so, internal fires are practially slim to none *knocks on wood*. i can imagine lots of “what ifs” but they are unlikely to happen.

Unless you unplug everything, switch off your phone and turn the gas and electricity off, there's always a risk of fire.

I always overheat easily and I hate it but I always need a weight on me or smth restricting me to go to sleep.

This isn't that uncommon. Why should you quit if you have control and understand how to do it safely ?

    • Just wanted to see if it was semi-common practice.

Yeah, going to sleep with something tied around your neck sounds like an absolutely brilliant idea.

You say you've done a lot of reading, but you can't have done that much if you're disregarding the dangers of autoasphyxiation.

    • Never said I was putting anything around my neck... shoulders, sometimes, but I check to make sure the placement in the final sleep position isnt too tight.

        • I guess that was a rethorical statement, incorectly used anyway.

If im not tying around my neck or any other dangerous point, and it’s not too tight, I guess the question of imminent danger is ruled out?

If you live in a house with other people, I guess the main hazard is one of acute embarrassment.

Don't you get cramps if your limbs are held immobile through the night?

As the poll results reflect, many people think it's not normal and I imagine it's not very common, but if it floats your boat, you're not risking your health, and you're not causing problems for or placing demands on anyone else, I see nothing wrong with what you're doing.
