Is this creepy?

So there's this girl in my class.

I find her fascinating. She's rather short, and has a bit of acne. She doesn't have particularly large breasts, or dress provocatively, or any of the other things I've heard determine attractiveness. But I feel the need to watch her every class, but I don't think she's noticed it. I've occasionally tried to initiate conversation concerning novels she's carrying (she seems to be an avid reader) , but what little speech occurred seemed tense and awkward.

I've considered attempting to court her, but I've never done so before and the only stuff I know about dating comes from romantic comedies. Plus, when I'm nervous, instead of stuttering, I go silent, harden my expression and stand up straight, which, when combined, I think would be rather off-putting.

I don't really want to touch her, so I'm assuming that rules out sexual attraction. There's not really a way it could be her personality that attracts me, since we've rarely spoken. I merely enjoy watching her when she's listening to the teacher or writing her notes.

This seems kind of creepy to me, but the only stalkers I've heard of are of a sexual nature. I don't actually follow her around, but in that class, I always keep an eye on her.

Creepy or just odd?

  • Sounds like a typical like plus like attraction. You aren't looking for a mate but just someone you can relate to who is slightly different to yourself. IE a chick. So i'd read some of the books she does and then casually mention some reference to a character or setting. If that fails just talk to her. Make the effort despite how awkward it is at first. You may find your best friend.

  • Aww :) This made my day!

Are you quite a shy guy around other people? Or just her?

In any case, this sounds like one hell of a crush to me :) and perhaps the start of a beautiful romance!

Good luck :D and please reply xx

    • I'm not really shy, I'm just not a people person, reading or web browsing holds much more interest to me than a conversation.

And I'm hesitant to identify it as a crush because of two things.

#1: I have never loved. I believe I might be asexual, seeing as I'm not really interested in girls (or guys) by the age of sixteen. Having never loved, it would be difficult to identify this as love, especially considering #2 which is

#2: I don't really feel any measurable affection for her. I've initiated conversation (mentioned previously) for curiosity as to where it would lead, but not much else. If she had a boyfriend, it wouldn't really matter to me, unless he obstructed my view.

  • well do you have girl-friends, as in just friends? Did you find that when initially meeting them, it was hard to talk to them or whatever?

Because if you didnt, it just seems like you have a crush. If your timid with all girls alike, what can I say?

  • Just cause you don't think you hold affection for her doesn't mean you don't maybe its subconscious. It definitely happens and your not alone especially in high school that is the worst place to find someone you like I think. I'd just try to find a common interest with her and just go from there. I found a girl in high school like that for me and found out we both love movies we have been going to a theater every friday night since sophmore year in high school and now we're both juniors in college and have been dating since the start. good luck
